Conditions Rabeprazole EC Treats
Rabeprazole EC is used for the treatment of gastro esophageal reflux disease (GERD). It can also be sued for treating heartburn, regurgitation and non-erosive reflux disease. GERD occurs when the sphincter of the esophagus does not get shut and allows the contents in our stomach to leak into esophagus. In case of non erosive reflux disease, the same thing happens but there is no visible damage to the esophagus or esophageal sphincter. Heartburn is cased when the stomach acids flow into the esophagus and cause a burning sensation in the chest. These acids can destroy the lining of the food pipe and cause irritation. The result is heartburn. Heartburn may be associated with digestive problems like irritable bowel syndrome. Regurgitation is the condition where the stomach contents flow back into the esophagus and even the mouth. This causes irritation of the food pipe and a bitter taste in the mouth. All these conditions can be managed using proton pump inhibitors like Rabeprazole EC. It works by decreasing acid production in the stomach. In the short term, this medication can be used for the treatment of duodenal and gastric ulcers. It can also be used for the treatment of Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, a condition that is associated with excess acid production in the stomach.
