Propranolol LA is a medication used for the treatment of hypertension, angina, migraine and hypertrophic subaortic stenosis. This drug belongs to a class of medications called beta adrenergic receptor blockers. Beta receptors are found in different parts of the body like heart, blood vessels, lungs, kidneys. When stress hormones like adrenaline bind to these receptors they cause constriction of blood vessels, increase in heart rate, force of heart beat and high blood pressure.
