Rabeprazole EC is a proton pump inhibitor that is used for the treatment of conditions like gastro esophageal reflux disease, non erosive reflux disease, ulcers, heartburn and regurgitation. The active ingredient in this medication is rabeprazole sodium. Its chemical name is (RS)-2-([4-(3-methoxypropoxy)-3-methylpyridin-2-yl] methylsulfinyl)-1H-benzo[d]imidazole. Its molecular formula is C18H21N3O3S and it has a molecular weight of 359.444 g/mol. In addition to the active ingredient, the medication also contains hydroxypropyl cellulose, hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, manitol, magnesium oxide, magnesium stearate, methacrylic acid, polyethylene glycol, talc, shellac glaze, sodium lauryl sulfate, titanium dioxide, triethyl citrate, zein, antifoam, hypromellose, iron oxide black, industrial methylated spirit, red iron oxide, soya lecithin.
